In collaboration with our nonprofit partners, we offer regularly scheduled group volunteer opportunities. This allows volunteers to “drop-in” as their schedule allows and to volunteer at multiple organizations without making a long-term commitment. If you are looking for something more in-depth, consider our Cohort Series.

No. We are a program of Macalester Plymouth United Church, but this is not a religious endeavor. The church noticed a longing in the wider community for opportunities for people to come together to do meaningful justice and service work outside of the church. The Grove addresses that need in a secular way. Church members may participate in the Grove’s activities, but there will be no proselytizing or Christian messaging.

Most of our volunteer opportunities are at partner locations so the timing depends on their needs and hours. For example, at Project Home, evening and weekend hours are often the only time families have to spend together, so they try to limit the number of people who come into the building. At other organizations, their current staffing and funding models do not allow for longer hours. We try to schedule our other programming at varying times to provide offerings in the evening and on weekends.
